Who is a Young Agent?

Any individual currently working in the Vermont insurance industry, whether with a VIAA member agency or a carrier with operations in Vermont, is eligible. A Young Agent does not need to be licensed and is defined as someone under the age of 45 and/or with fewer than 15 years of experience in the insurance industry.

What is the purpose of the VIAA Young Agents Committee?

The purpose of the Young Agents Committee is to provide a platform that encourages and supports leadership development, education, and recruitment of young agents for the members of the VIAA.

What are the goals of the Young Agents?

1. To be a self-sustaining committee that serves as a springboard for perpetuating the leadership of agencies and the support of the VIAA.
2. To be a committee that is successful in assisting with the development of the next generation of young agents in Vermont.
3. To foster networking and communication between young agents, agency leaders, the Association, and carriers.
4. To assist the VIAA in creating a network of relationships with our educational institutions and other recruiting areas.

Who makes up the Committee?

The committee shall consist of no more than 20 members, including the Chairperson, Co-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. Of the 20 members, no more than 5 insurance company representatives are eligible for membership. There will be no limitation for at-large members.

How do I Join the VIAA Young Agents?

Please complete the form to be added to our mailing list. VIAA will confirm your membership and follow up by email or phone to learn more about your interests in the committee.

How often do the Young Agents Meet?

The committee will meet regularly to review the agenda and ensure it remains aligned with its objectives and goals. Meetings may be held via Zoom or email when in-person meetings are not feasible, and decisions or votes may be conducted through this method.

What does it cost to join the Young Agents?

There is no membership fee to join the Young Agents. A fee may be charged from time to time for certain events.
